Anime

Anime is the Japanese word for animation, literally translated. Though in America, it has developed an additional definition, and that is a specific style of animation that differs in many ways from most American animations. Perhaps one of the most interesting differences between America and Japan in terms of anime (and manga), is how the two societies view these mediums. In America, they are called cartoons and are for children, seldom are they intended for anyone over age 10. While in Japan, they see anime as simply animated comics, and can be for adults or children. Another interesting difference, is that anime encompasses a broad range of genres. You can (and will) find everything from cute, childrens series, to young adult for both boys and girls, up to adult content. There is quite literally something for anyone.

Gravitation currently has a two volume OVA (Original Video Animation) out, ans a four volume TV series out (13 episodes). There are also two soundtracks, one for the OVA and one for the TV series, as well as an Audio Files CD, and multiple Sound Story CDs. The TV series has recently been licensed to The Right Stuff International, so you can expect to see that on DVD/VHS sometime next year. Check their site for more details, [Website]. Eventually, I would like to make samples of some of the music, similar to what sites like CDNOW do, so you can hear a bit. Many of the seiyuu (voice actors) in the series are well known for other roles, and you'll recognize thier voices for sure, if you haven't already recognized their names.
